100% Stereotype, 100% Silly

Big moustaches + Tex Mex burritos =  (obvi) 100% Mexican

(An advertisement from a Chilean woman's magazine. Oh the cultural implications of this ad...)

  5. Hi, KK! Mimi and Papaw were here visiting and we had so much fun with them. We're on our last weekday of our Spring Break, and I still have "springbreakitis"! I want more vacation time!! For what it is worth, I can relate to your alone feelings from my travels and moves. It is isolating. Being alone is a bit different than being lonely, too, isn't it. It does provide a strong and powerful force to allow us to connect with God and feel that connection at this time more than many other times. Many people work their hardest to avoid these feelings -which we are destined to have in our lifetime. They fill it with any number of distractions: shopping, relationships, and many other past-times that remove them from themselves and vulnerability. Vulnerability can breed strength and wisdom if you listen to your mind and heart at such times. There are many accounts of alienation and isolation in the Bible, too, aren't there. It is a common human connection. Remember, too, that a person can be in a room of 100 friends and still feel alone and alienated. Our peace of mind and composure comes at the oddest times, so be on the watch for that! If you are accustomed to peace of mind and composure, and are with out it, and it returns - be mindful of what brought it back out in you. It is good to know these things about yourself. For now, know this... you are a human citizen of this world, in a spot where God watches you at all times, and hundreds of people are praying for you. This is a short span of time away from home. Use the musings and fears to learn about the wonderful KK God created. No need to be embarassed about not knowing an answer in a class. You are doing something so much braver than being a student. I love you and miss you. Aunt Julie
